Davis, Crushers drop 6-4 decision, begin road tripThe Lake Erie Crushers fell to the Florence Freedom in the series finale at All Pro Freight Stadium on Tuesday night by a score of 6-4.

Eric Gonzalez-Diaz started the game for Lake Erie, which fell to 12-18 on the season and eight games out of first place in the Frontier league East Division. Gonzalez-Diaz pitched four innings, striking out one and allowing four earned runs. He was also tagged with the loss, which drops his record to 1-4.

Andrew Davis provided the most offense for the Crushers during the game. The Kent State alum provided two base hits and two RBI. Davis currently leads the team in RBI with 17 and is hitting .263 this season.

Kellen Kulbacki and Brian Erie each recorded two base hits for the Crushers. Callback, who has 12 RBI this season, also drove in a run in the loss.

Florence raised its record to 17-13, keeping the Freedom three games back behind the front-running Traverse City Beach Bums. The Bums have the best record in the league at 20-10 after their 13-6 win over Joliet Tuesday night.

Lake Erie will head out on the road to Canada to play the London Rippers (13-16) for the first time ever in a three game series. The Rippers, in their first season in the Frontier League, are just ahead of the Crushers in the standings at 13-17.
